Indices Report The Indice report presents the VariancesIndices report shows the evolution of a portfolio's EVM metrics over time. EVM metrics are grouped in three (3) categories: the Variance, Performance and Estimate At Completion graphs that will help you analyse your project performance. And as you can expect, you can get a printable version of it using the report's action menu or by hitting "p" while consulting it indices. Their evolution over time is represented in charts, one for each of the three indices categories. The report can be produced for printing and its data can be exported to Excel spreadsheet. Report ParametersConfiguring the report Variance Indices The variance chart shows the trend of variance-related indices. The variance indices indicate how well the actual data compares to what was planned. Image Added CV | Cost Variance | This index (CV) determines if the project is under or over the budget. It is computed by subtracting the Actual Cost (AC) from the Earned Value(EV). A negative value indicates that the project is over budget. Ex: at the end of the fourth week the AC is 11,000.00$ and the EV is 8,000.00$ then the CV will be 3,000.00$ at the end of this period |
---|
SV | Schedule Variance | This index (SV) determines whether the project is ahead of or behind schedule. It is computed by subtracting the Planned Value(PV) to date from the Earned Value(EV) to date. A negative value indicates that the project is behind schedule. Ex: at the end of the fourth week the PV is 10,000.00$ and the EV is 8,000.00$ then the SV will be 2,000.00$ at the end of this period |
---|
VAC | Variance At Completion | This index (VAC) determines whether the project will finish under or over budget. The Amount shown is the difference between the total budgeted cost and the Estimate at Completion It is computed by subtracting the Estimate at Completion (EAC)from the Budget at Completion(BAC). A negative value indicates how much more resources will need to be injected to achieve the project goal. Ex: at the end of the fourth week the EAC is 250,000.00$ and the BAC is 200,000.00$ then the VAC will be 50,000.00$ |

Performance Indices The performance chart shows the trend of performance-related indices. Performance indices attempt to capture how efficient the team is to convert money into earned value. Image Added CPI | Cost Performance Index | This index (CPI) determines how efficiently the team is using its resources. It is computed by dividing the Earned Value by the Actual Cost. A value lower than one indicates a loss of efficiency. |
---|
SPI | Schedule Performance Index | This index (SPI) determines how efficiently the project team is using its time. It is computed by dividing the Earned Value by the Planned Value to date. A value lower than one indicates a loss of efficiency. |
---|
TCPI | To-Complete Performance Index | This index (TCPI) determines the efficiency that must be achieved on the remaining work for a project to meet the Budget at Completion. It is computed by dividing the work remaining (BAC - EV to date) by the budget remaining (BAC - AC to date). A value greater than one indicates that the performance must improve. |
