Billable Hours

In FOLIO, the billable hours is the regular hours that was spent working on items of the folio's scope which can be billed or is capable of being billed. In association with the rate, they are an essential part of the revenues for consulting services companies.


The billable hours can either be:

  • Entered manually (see add, edit and delete billable hours)
  • Automatically computed based on the wage table and the billable ratio.



  • Based on the JIRA worklogs on which we apply the billable ratio.
    Will be driven by the member's logged work on the issues part of the folio's scope and within its time frame.


  • Based on the Tempo billed hours on which we apply the billable ratio.
    Will be driven by the member's billed hours on the issues part of the folio's scope and within its time frame.
    You just need to check the "Synchronise with the Tempo billed hours" in the Accounting tab of the folio's configuration.

 

Since most of the timesheets add-ons such as Tempo, populate the JIRA worklogs, FOLIO is fully compatible with these add-ons.

Add Billable Hours

To add billable hours click on the "Add Billable Hours" button in the top right corner of the billable hours section located in the consulting revenue details.

 

Required Parameters
Date fromThe start date of the working period
Must be before the Date from and cannot be in the future
Date toThe end date of the working period
Must be after the Date from and cannot be in the future
Billable hoursThe billable hours between the date from and date to
Must be greater than 0

To submit your changes hit return or click anywhere in the page.

 

If the billable hours are synchronized with the JIRA worklogs or Tempo billed hours, you cannot add manually any billable hours. You can only edit the existing ones.

 

Edit Billable Hours

To edit billable hours click on the billable hours row itself of the billable hours table of the billable hours section located in the consulting revenue details.
Both computed billable hours and billable hours based on the JIRA/Tempo worklogs can be overridden.

In the case where the billable hours are based on the JIRA worklogs or Tempo billed hours, only the billable hours can be updated. The periods are fixed and weekly based.

Same rules apply than when adding billable hours.


Delete Billable Hours

To delete billable hours simply click on the "trash" icon on the row of the billable hours to be deleted in the billable hours table of the billable hours section located in the consulting revenue details.

It is not possible to delete billable hours based on the JIRA worklogs or Tempo billed hours. You will need to enter a time of 0h if you want FOLIO to ignore the JIRA/Tempo entries.
